The primary purpose of social studies education is to inspire and prepare students to be responsible, respectful, and productive citizens in a democratic society within a complex and dynamic interdependent world. Through an integrated study of social studies disciplines, students will acquire the knowledge, skills, and perspectives necessary to become lifelong learners and willing participants in the democratic process.
